net/280 The Conservation Leadership Development Program (CLDP) has been developed for individuals who are looking for an intensive entry-level experience in preparation for a career in the conservation field.
We welcome recent high school graduates, working young adults, and recent college graduates to apply to the program.
Members are selected to serve at a single host site that best matches the individual's interests.
Applicants must be comfortable serving in rugged environments, and be able to perform physically demanding duties.
CLDP Members on O'ahu may be paired with the following host site:
O?ahu National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) Complex The O?ahu National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) Complex is comprised of three refuges on O?ahu:
James Campbell NWR, Pearl Harbor NWR, and O?ahu Forest NWR.
The goals of the Complex are to protect, conserve, restore, and enhance native habitats to aid in the recovery and perpetuation of federally listed endangered and threatened species; provide migration and wintering habitat for migratory birds; protect, conserve, manage, and restore the rare coastal dune strand; provide opportunities for compatible wildlife-depended recreation and interpretation; and create partnerships and provide leadership in coordinating land management activities.
These positions focus on controlling and removing non-native species to maintain, conserve, and restore quality habitat to meet the needs of endangered waterbirds, seabirds, indigenous plants, monk seals and sea turtles.
Primary duties include:
Control of introduced predators (primarily non-native rats, mongooses, and feral cats) via trapping.
Assists with waterbird population monitoring and botulism outbreak response.
Yellow-crazy ant control and population monitoring.
Invasive plant removal and outplanting of native species.
Propagate native plants from seeds and cuttings in nursery for habitat restoration projects.
Maintain nursery stock including fertilizing, watering, repotting, and plant health monitoring.
Assist with design and implementation of habitat restoration projects with clear goals and objectives.
Monitor habitat restoration areas for overall site condition including native plant health and weed abundance.
Monitor focal and rare plants.
Data collection, entry, QA/QC, and analyses using Access, Excel, Program R, and ArcGIS Pro.
Routine maintenance, cleaning and repair of Refuge equipment, vehicles, and office space.
Other duties may include assisting with community work days, school groups, marine debris cleanup, volunteer groups, maintenance program, deferred maintenance projects, and other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS Age 17
High School Diploma Valid driver's license Preference will be given to those with a local and/or cultural connection to the land, resources, and communities of O?ahu

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
